Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir "Grande Réserve" 2015

First planted in the Jura by Count Jean de Chalon as early as the 15th century, this grape variety is best suited to gravelly soils, which represent only 8 to 10% of the Jura winegrowing area. The En Barberon plot, near Château Chalon, with its typically Jurassian clay soils and an ideal east-west exposure, gives this wine its gunflint aromas.

Vinification and Ageing

Our Pinot Noir is sorted in the vines at harvest to select the best grapes for this wine, which macerates for 10 days in a stainless steel temperature-controlled vat, before spending 12 months in 228-litre barrels, of which 40% are new oak and the remainder barrels used for between one and five wines.

Jacques Tissot's Tasting Notes

Deep garnet red, brilliant and limpid, with glints ranging from cherry to ruby.

A typical, open nose, with beautiful aromatic intensity combining ripe fruits, blackcurrants and a hint of undergrowth.

This predominantly fruity palate is full and harmonious. The evident maturity of the grapes is very pleasant.
The overriding flavours are of blackcurrants, blackberries, and rounded, woody tannins, giving way to a fresh finish.

Ageing Potential

From eight to twelve years.

Wine and Food Pairing

Any red meats, including memorably grilled duck breasts and steaks.

Best served between 12 and 14°C, though in the summer opt for the slightly cooler 12°C.

We also recommend...

From old Poulsard vines. Aged in oak barrels.

12 bottles, a selection of our hand-crafted wines.
