Arbois Rouge Tradition 2014 - Three Varieties

Description

Terroir

A blend from different terroirs, notably the plots known as Les Bruyères and En Poussots.

Soils of Keuper iridescent marl, and clay with cherts.

South facing slope.

 

Vinification and Ageing

A subtle blend of Trousseau, Poulsard and Pinot noir.

Poulsard and Trousseau blends accounted for 3/4 of the production of red wines in the Jura at the beginning of the 19th century. Bunches completely destemmed and sorted by hand.

Ten days' vatting period in a temperature-controlled tank. When the fermentations are complete, the wine is aged for 24 months in wooden tuns.

 

Jacques Tissot's Tasting Notes

Bouquet

Ruby red with fleeting terracotta hues.
A nose of red fruits, blackberries, prunes, spicy balsamic scents, with a faint barnyard whiff.

 

Palate

Supple, full and well-balanced on the palate. The aromas evolve beautifully to reveal notes of cherries.
The mouth finishes on notes of spices and pepper.

 

Ageing Potential

From six to ten years.

 

Wine and Food Pairing

Ideal with grilled red meats, roast beef, roasts, and cheeses.
Serve between 12 and 14°C.
