Le Galant

Made according to a recipe handed down from generation to generation of the Tissot family. Winemakers commonly produced this type of liqueur wine in the 19th century.

Vinification and Ageing

After settling to clarify for 18 hours, ten spices are added to the grape juice.

The mixture is then cooked in a copper cauldron. Once it has reduced by approximately 30%, Jura marc brandy or fine brandy is added to the concentrated, aromatised grape juice.

Le Galant is then aged in barrels for at least 12 months.

Jacques Tissot's Tasting Notes

The first nose is floral, giving way to fruity aromas of raspberries then prunes, cherries in brandy, fruit stones, and cinnamon.

The palate is supple, fresh, sharp and very rich. All of the nose's intensity and aromatic diversity are equally present in the mouth.

A beautiful, delectable finish with some spiced notes.

Ageing Potential

From 10 to 25 years.

Wine and Food Pairing

Delicious well-chilled as an aperitif, or as an unusual accompaniment to desserts involving chocolate, walnuts, or vanilla or rum and raisin ice cream.

Best served between 5 and 8°C.
